Premier Health honored the Xenia Fire & EMS Division with the Trauma Coin for their life-saving actions on December 8, 2025.

Crews responded to a cardiac arrest at an extended care facility, where staff had already begun CPR. Xenia Fire & EMS personnel took over care, provided advanced life support, and achieved return of pulses before transporting the patient to Miami Valley Hospital.

In an outcome seen in less than 1% of cardiac arrest cases, the patient was discharged neurologically intact.

Thank you to Premier Health for recognizing the outstanding work of our first responders!

Today, we were thrilled to host a wonderful group of 2nd-grade students from Tecumseh Elementary School! From participating in a mock council meeting to learning about how our city serves residents, students got a hands-on look at local government in action. Their visit wrapped up with a tour of the City Administration Building, and we loved seeing their enthusiasm and great questions throughout the day!

It’s 2026 Severe Weather Awareness Week. Do you know where to go during a warning?

If a tornado warning is issued for our area, seek shelter immediately in a sturdy building on the lowest level and away from windows.

For homes in Xenia, the southwest corner of a building may offer the most protection during a tornado.

If a warning is issued:
✔️ Go to a basement or the lowest level of a sturdy building
✔️ If there is no basement, move to a small interior room away from windows
✔️ Door frames may provide added protection if a structure collapses
✔️ Bathtubs can offer limited protection
✔️ Cover your head and neck with your arms, a mattress, or a blanket

⚠️ Important reminders:
• Mobile homes and vehicles are not safe shelters
• Do not go outside to look for the tornado

Bellbrook recently recognized the lifesaving efforts of first responders after a Bellbrook resident was found unresponsive by a passerby who immediately called 9-1-1. The call was answered by Communications Operator Tara Melvin at the Xenia Greene Central Communications Center, who played a critical role in coordinating the response.

We’re proud to recognize her for this well-deserved award and grateful for the work she does every day to serve our community!
