A road closure is planned for N. King St. between W. Church St. and Shawnee St. until October 21, weather permitting, as crews prepare to replace the existing culvert.
During the closure, through traffic will need to use alternate routes. The remainder of N. King St. will be accessible via Shawnee St. or Pleasant St. Residents within the closure area will be able to exit via W. Church St. or the alley connecting to Detroit Blvd.
The schedule is weather dependent, and updates will be shared if plans change. Thank you for your patience while this infrastructure work is completed.

The Xenia Police Division will initiate traffic stops for observed violations of traffic laws and City code. Enforcement applies to violations occurring on roadways, multi-use trails, parks, and other City rights-of-way.
City Council is also evaluating potential changes to local code related to these devices, with additional information expected later this month.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor where and how their children use these devices and ensure they understand the laws and regulations that apply.

The City of Xenia gathered this morning for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
The ceremony included remarks from City Manager Brent Merriman and Mayor Ethan Reynolds, a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., comments and prayer, and a musical tribute of “God Bless America” by Greene County Commissioner Sarah Mays. Xenia Township also provided a piece of one of the World Trade Center towers to be displayed during the ceremony.

Traffic cones have been used to test different configurations over the past several weeks. Because the initial layout has not significantly reduced vehicle speeds, a new layout will be tested beginning the week of August 31.
The new configuration will create narrowed “chokepoints” at four locations along Bellbrook Avenue, allowing traffic to pass while encouraging drivers to slow down.
The City will monitor vehicle speeds and gather feedback to determine whether the approach is effective. Depending on the results, the City may replace the cones with removable concrete curb blocks or return the roadway to its existing configuration.

City utility crews completed a temporary repair on the water main serving E. Main St. between Detroit St. and Columbus St. on Aug. 18, quickly restoring full water service and pressure to downtown businesses.
Crews will return at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, to complete a more permanent repair. During the work, customers along E. Main St. and surrounding blocks may experience reduced water pressure.
Customers may also notice discolored or cloudy water as pressure changes disturb the water lines. If you notice discoloration, please flush your lines by running cold water through an unfiltered water outlet until the water runs clear.
Work is expected to be completed and full water pressure restored by early Thursday morning, Aug. 27.
