The City of Xenia has approved a major investment in roadway improvements as part of its 2026 street resurfacing program. Xenia City Council awarded a contract to John R. Jurgensen Co. totaling more than $1.8 million, coming in under both the engineer’s estimate and the available program funding of $2.2 million.
Because of the favorable bid results, the City will expand the scope of work to include additional infrastructure improvements beyond the original plan. This includes a citywide pothole repair initiative as well as the addition of Cheyenne Drive and Seneca Drive to the resurfacing schedule.
2026 Streets Scheduled for Resurfacing
The following roadways are included in the approved contract:
Commonwealth Drive (Nebraska Dr. to cul-de-sac)
Jenny Marie Drive (Sterling Green Commons Blvd. to Arkansas Dr.)
Berkshire Drive (Jenny Marie Dr. to Bellbrook Ave.)
Sterling Green Commons (Sterling Green Commons Blvd. to Lower Bellbrook Rd.)
Glen Kegley Drive (Tennessee Dr. to Jenny Marie Dr.)
Shannon Lane (Greystoke Dr. to end)
Greystoke Drive (subdivision line at Eden Bridge to cul-de-sac)
Dundee Drive (New Mexico Dr. to Commonwealth Dr.)
Arkansas Drive (Dundee Dr. to Tennessee Dr.)
Seneca Drive (Pueblo Drive to cul-de-sac)
Cheyenne Drive (Seneca Drive to end)

Construction Timeline and Work Phases
Work will begin in early May with a phased approach:
Week of May 4: Citywide pothole repairs begin, starting with state routes and moving to collector streets over the following 2–3 weeks.
Second week of May: Concrete curb replacement will begin at select locations along resurfacing corridors.
August (weather permitting): Full resurfacing operations on approved streets are expected to begin.
The City emphasized that all schedules are tentative and subject to weather conditions. Residents and motorists will receive advance notice regarding lane closures, delays, and traffic control measures as each phase of work begins.
Additional 2026 Infrastructure Investments
In addition to street resurfacing, the City of Xenia is undertaking several major infrastructure projects in 2026, including:
North King Street Utility Rehabilitation
A $2.4 million project will fund comprehensive upgrades to water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems along North King Street. Construction is expected to begin by the end of April and continue through much of 2026.
Following utility work, North King Street is scheduled for resurfacing in 2027, along with other streets to be finalized in the next annual paving program.
Community Reminder
The City of Xenia encourages all motorists to use caution in construction zones and to remain patient during ongoing infrastructure improvements.
These projects are designed to improve roadway safety, extend pavement life, and enhance essential utility systems throughout the community while minimizing long-term maintenance costs.
