Government

The City of Xenia, Ohio, is a chartered community and operates under a Council-Manager form of governance. This effort transitioned city governance from a panel of City Commissioners to a seven-member City Council, consisting of six Council members and one Mayor. The Mayor is elected at-large and is a voting member of the City Council and serves as the ceremonial representative for the City of Xenia. The six Council members are elected at-large, and select from among their ranks a President and a Vice President of Council each year.

City Manager

The City Manager of the City of Xenia is appointed by the City Council and serves as the chief executive and administrative officer for the municipality. The City Manager conducts the day-to-day operations of the city, including planning and administration of the city budget, overseeing capital and community improvements, public safety services, and various regulatory and oversight functions.

Finance Director

The Finance Director of the City of Xenia serves as the chief financial officer for the city. The Finance Director is appointed by the City Council and performs the functions customarily assigned to the auditor and treasurer for municipal accounting, collection of taxes, accounts and assessments, and control of disbursements.

Law Director

The Law Director of the City of Xenia serves as the city’s chief legal counsel and prosecutor (for misdemeanor offenses). The Law Director is appointed by the City Council and acts as the advisor to and attorney for the City of Xenia and all its departments, agencies, officials, and employees. Additionally, the Law Director oversees the Victim Assistance Program for the city.
